Sun Weidong, the Chinese Ambassador to India till recently, has been appointed as the Deputy Foreign Minister.
According to state media hereSun, 56 returned to Beijing after spending over three years in New Delhi and was appointed Vice Foreign Minister.
Before being assigned to India, Sun served as the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan. His appointment as Deputy Foreign Minister precedes the announcement of major cabinet changes in March next year.
Wang is also the Special Representative of the India-China border mechanism with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and has been promoted due to his election to the powerful Politburo, making him the most senior Chinese diplomat in the current government.
