DUBAI, United Arab Emirates: A Strait of Hormuz cargo vessel was struck by an unknown projectile Wednesday, leaving it on fire and adrift, with two casualties reported, UK Maritime Trade Operations said.
UKMTO said the vessel’s Company Security Officer reported the strike. The agency said all crew members were evacuated after the incident.
The maritime agency did not identify the vessel or specify whether the two reported casualties were deaths or injuries, based on the information available at the time.
Authorities were investigating the incident and the projectile’s source, UKMTO said. No environmental impact had been reported.
