Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali has reportedly resigned from his post as the team principal with immediate effect.
Domenicali, who will be replaced by Marco Mattiacci after being in charge of Ferrari since replacing Jean Todt in 2008, said that there are particular moments in everyone’s professional life where “one needs the courage to take difficult and very painful decisions.”
Domenicali said that it is time for an important change for the Italian team, who has failed to register a podium finish in the opening three races in this Formula One season.
Domenicali said that as boss, he takes the responsibility for the situation Ferrari is going through, adding that he took his decision to resign with the aim of doing something to shake things up.
