In response to the alleged kidnapping of Session Judge Shakirullah Marwat on the border of Tank and Dera Ismail Khan districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the police have established a special committee to investigate the incident.
According to a police statement, the committee includes members from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), local police, and other law enforcement agencies.
The Counter Terrorism Department has officially registered the First Information Report (FIR) regarding the judge’s kidnapping. Reports indicate that unknown assailants abducted Judge Marwat while his guard and driver were left unharmed, and his vehicle was subsequently set on fire.
In parallel, a dedicated CTD team is actively working on the recovery of Judge Marwat. Officials have confirmed the recovery of the judge’s vehicle and are currently gathering CCTV footage to aid in the investigation. Furthermore, a comprehensive search operation has been launched across various parts of the DI Khan region, with several suspects being detained and questioned regarding the incident.
The situation’s urgency has escalated to the highest levels of provincial governance. Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, has been apprised of the circumstances and has directed the police chief to ensure the judge’s safe and swift recovery. Following these directives, the police intensified their efforts and initiated an extensive search operation to locate and rescue Shakirullah Marwat.
