The Snapchat arrival notification feature marks a new step in the platform’s push to strengthen user safety. The update allows users to send automatic arrival alerts for any location, not just their home, offering greater flexibility and peace of mind.

The feature expands on Snapchat’s existing “Home Safe” alerts, which launched last summer. With this update, users can now notify close friends when they arrive at everyday destinations, such as work, a café, or a gym, without having to send a message manually.

According to Snapchat, the goal is to make safety tools easier to use in daily life. In a blog post, the company said arrival notifications are designed to work seamlessly in routine moments, reducing the need for users to remember to check in.

Users can set either one-time or recurring alerts. One-time notifications expire automatically if they are not triggered within 24 hours. Recurring alerts can be scheduled for regular locations, making them useful for commutes or frequent visits.

Arrival Notifications on Snap Map are expanding. Now Snapchatters can set flexible alerts for everyday places to let trusted friends know when they arrive. Simple, automatic, and built with privacy in mind.

Snapchat Arrival Notification Feature and Privacy Controls

Privacy remains central to the Snapchat arrival notification feature. Alerts are sent only to friends the user has actively chosen to share their live location with on Snap Map. The feature is turned off by default, ensuring users remain in control of their location sharing.

To enable arrival notifications, users must first share their live location by tapping on a friend’s profile. From there, they can select a destination, assign it a custom name, and choose how often notifications should be sent.

Snapchat also allows users to label destinations with personalised names, such as “office,” “yoga studio,” or “coffee shop.” This adds clarity for recipients while keeping alerts simple and discreet.

The update comes as Snap Map continues to see strong engagement. Snapchat recently reported that the feature now reaches more than 400 million monthly active users, highlighting the growing importance of location-based tools on the platform.

By expanding arrival alerts beyond home locations, Snapchat aims to balance convenience with safety. The update reflects a broader industry trend toward giving users more control over how and when they share their whereabouts.
