SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz agreed on Tuesday to expand industrial AI cooperation under an updated five-part plan covering technology, trade and security.
Both leaders announced the agreement during a joint press conference at Parliament House. Wong said Singapore and Germany could combine their strengths to develop artificial intelligence applications for manufacturing, logistics and other industries.
Industrial AI uses technologies such as machine learning, computer vision and automated systems to improve physical operations, including production and supply chains.
The countries intend to pursue joint research in advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, quantum technology, space technology and green innovation.
Wong said both governments recognised AI’s potential to create opportunities for businesses and workers. He stressed that future applications should remain safe, reliable and centered on people.
