KARACHI: Sindh schools will begin a six-day week on Saturday, August 1, after the provincial government ordered public and private institutions to operate from Monday to Saturday.
The School Education and Literacy Department issued the notification on Thursday, July 30. The revised schedule will remain effective until further notice.
The order applies to all public and private educational institutions under the department’s administrative control.
It does not announce revised opening or closing times. The notification also does not specify exemptions for particular schools or grade levels.
The schedule will take effect as schools reopen after the summer vacation. The two-month break began on June 1 and ends on July 31.
The Sindh government had approved the vacation period for the 2026–27 academic session following an Education Steering Committee decision on February 12,
