Sindh govt yet to appove Rangers’ special powers

The Sindh government has not accord approval on summary seeking extension of Sindh Rangers’ special powers in Karachi.

According to details, Rangers special policing powers under Anti Terrorism Act are due to expire today (Tuesday).

Sources in the Sindh Government told that,  Interior minister Sindh has not signed the summary. Rangers seeking one year extension of powers. Once Interior minister signs the summary,  it  will be forward to the law department.

The federal cabinet had empowered Rangers to carry out targeted operation in support of police against criminals involved in targeted killings, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and terrorism in Karachi. Rangers could take criminals into custody for 90-days exercising these powers.

Karachi Rangers were given 90 days special powers on May 04.
