Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper Shubman Gill couldn’t stop raving about Mohammed Siraj’s match-turning spell after a slick seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday at Uppal Stadium.

In GT’s third consecutive victory, Gill highlighted the often-overlooked contributions of bowlers. “People hype big hitters, but bowlers win games. Siraj’s energy is unreal,” he remarked after the match. This defeat left SRH struggling with their fourth straight loss, while GT’s most convincing win propelled them to second place on the points table.

SRH batted first after losing the toss and found themselves struggling at 50/3, with Travis Head scoring only 8 runs, Abhishek Sharma 18, and Ishan Kishan 17. A partnership of 50 runs between Nitish Kumar Reddy, who scored 31 off 34 balls, and Heinrich Klaasen, who contributed 27 off 19 balls, helped stabilize the innings. Pat Cummins added a late flourish with an unbeaten 22 runs off just 9 balls, bringing SRH to a total of 152/8.

On the bowling side, Mohammed Siraj made a fiery impact, supported by Prasidh Krishna, who took 2 wickets for 25 runs, and Sai Kishore, who also claimed 2 wickets for 24 runs. In GT’s chase, they stumbled early at 16/2, but Shubman Gill stepped up, scoring 61 runs off 43 balls, including 9 fours. Washington Sundar also played a crucial role, making 49 runs off 29 balls, with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Together, they formed a game-changing partnership of 90 runs. Sherfane Rutherford finished the innings with a quick 35 not out off 16 balls, securing the victory with 20 balls to spare.

Gill praised Sundar’s performance, stating, “We focused on ground shots, and his batting was fantastic.” With three wins and one loss, GT has amassed six points, indicating a winning streak, while SRH finds itself at the bottom of the table. “Bowlers like Siraj can shift the momentum,” Gill observed, highlighting the proof that GT is currently riding high.
