The mosque at the Parliament House witnessed an unexpected theft, leaving numerous worshippers, including National Assembly staff and journalists, without shoes. Despite the high security, an unidentified thief stole footwear from approximately 20 individuals.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, the Speaker of the National Assembly, expressed his displeasure over the security breach and ordered a thorough inquiry. The Sergeant-at-Arms reviews CCTV footage to identify the perpetrator and report the findings.
The theft has sparked significant discussion on social media, with users speculating how such a security lapse could occur, especially at a closely monitored venue outside the Parliament House mosque.
Adding to the discourse, senior journalist Asif Bashir Chaudhry highlighted the irony of the situation in a tweet, noting the ineffectiveness of the security cameras. He pointed out the timing of the theft, occurring just a day after President Asif Ali Zardari’s address at a tightly secured joint session of Parliament.
