Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, leader of the Awami Muslim League, asserted that former Army Chief General (retd) Qamar Bajwa played a pivotal role in the ouster of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.
During an exclusive interview with ARY News, Sheikh Rasheed revealed that the downfall of the Imran Khan-led administration was imminent. “The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan had already decided to vote against Imran Khan in the no-confidence motion,” he disclosed.
“I had informed Imran Khan that the MQM-P’s decision was a clear indication from the real forces that his government would be toppled,” he stated.
When questioned about General Bajwa’s involvement in the government’s collapse, Sheikh Rasheed confirmed, “There is no doubt about it.”
He also claimed, “No one, including myself, has entered Pakistani politics without the support of Gate No. 4.”
Sheikh Rasheed expressed scepticism when discussing the potential for dialogue between the PTI and the current government. “I do not foresee successful dialogue, nor am I hopeful about it,” he remarked.
“Initially, they were not holding talks, and now they will not accept the conditions set for dialogue,” he explained. He predicted crucial developments two months after Eid, expecting decisive actions by August. “There might be some new developments surfacing,” he hinted. He described the current government as merely for show.
On a comparative note, he mentioned, “Nawaz Sharif has been better and ‘less corrupt’ than Shehbaz, who has only been for signing. Nawaz Sharif has not been in good books and could not aspire for it.”
