Islamabad, Pakistan: The Shahid Akhtar funeral will be held at H-8 graveyard in Islamabad at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, after the death of Shoaib Akhtar’s elder brother, the family said.

Shahid Akhtar, elder brother of former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, died in Islamabad on June 24.

According to the family and Shoaib Akhtar, the funeral prayer will be held in the evening at the H-8 graveyard. He will be laid to rest in the same graveyard after the prayers. The family confirmed the Shahid Akhtar funeral details after news of his death emerged on Wednesday.

بھائی جان شاہد اختر کی نمازِ جنازہ جمعرات 25 جون (9 محرم) کو نمازِ عصر کے بعدH-8 قبرستان اسلام آباد میں ادا کی جائے گی۔ وقت شام 5:30 بجے ہوگا۔

تمام احباب سے گزارش ہے کہ انہیں اپنی دعاؤں میں یاد رکھیں اور ان کی مغفرت کے لیے دعا کریں۔

یاد دہانی: یہ کل ہے، آج نہیں۔

The cause of death and no further medical or hospital details were provided. Shoaib Akhtar also shared a post from his official X account on June 23.

The death brought grief to the family of the former cricketer, who remains one of Pakistan’s most recognised fast bowlers.

Shoaib Akhtar represented the Pakistan cricket team as a fast bowler and became known internationally for his pace during his playing career.

The former cricketer remained a prominent figure in Pakistan cricket after retirement through commentary, media appearances and public engagement.

Shahid Akhtar, as Shoaib Akhtar’s elder brother, confirmed that the funeral arrangements were in Islamabad.

Mourners were expected to gather at H-8 graveyard for the evening funeral prayer, according to the family’s announcement.
