President Joe Biden has nominated Shahid Ahmed Khan to join the distinguished President’s Advisory Committee on the Arts (PACA), according to a White House statement released on May 12, The News confirmed on Sunday.

Since its inception in 1958, PACA has been a consistent cornerstone supporting the John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts. The committee plays an instrumental role in synthesizing the nation’s artistic spirit and enhancing the center’s mission.

The chosen committee members, often prominent figures in their communities, are honored with the title ‘Ambassadors for the Arts.’

Khan, a renowned figure in the Greater Boston area, carries an extensive repertoire of over twenty years of international affairs experience to the PACA. His dedication to the Asian and Muslim world is mirrored in his relentless efforts as a community leader, political consultant, and entrepreneur, advocating for US ideals and principles via continuous dialogue and interaction.

Throughout his remarkable career, Khan has held key positions, including a trustee for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and an advisory board member of the Democratic National Committee. In addition, his significant role as the national finance co-chair for John Kerry’s 2004 Presidential campaign and subsequent advisory roles across various US campaigns highlight his strategic prowess and commitment to public service.

Additionally, Khan was key in rallying the South Asian-American community during Biden’s presidential campaign. Acknowledged as a South Asian affairs expert, Khan founded Triconboston Consulting Corporation, guiding companies within the renewable energy, IT, and healthcare sectors.

A PACA representative expressed their delight about Khan’s appointment to the committee, stating, “His wide-ranging experiences, deep insights, and unique perspective are set to enhance our mission and significantly expand our impact.”

This nomination serves as a recognition of Pakistani Americans’ significant contributions to the US’s social and cultural landscape, highlighting their ongoing influential role in molding the nation’s future.
