Three senior Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) of Islamabad Police took leave following the appointment of a junior officer, Ali Nasir Rizvi, as Islamabad’s Inspector General (IG).

As per initial reports, DIGs Awais Malik, Hassan Raza, and Shoaib Janbaz opted for leave after Rizvi, a Grade 20 officer with previous experience as DIG Operations Lahore, assumed command on March 29, succeeding Akbar Nasir.

Earlier, the federal government led to major changes within the ranks, including the promotion of 14 inspectors to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) by the former IG just before his departure.

Promotions were confirmed by the Departmental Promotion Committee, which recognized inspectors such as Muhammad Sharif and Asadullah Mangi, among others. Amid these changes, reports surfaced of one DIG seeking a transfer to the Railways Police.
