Security Officer at Ninoy Aquino Airport Allegedly Ingests Stolen 300$

A security officer from the Philippines’ Office of Transportation Security (OTS) at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 is facing an inquiry over allegations of ingesting $300 stolen from a traveller. This bizarre act has attracted considerable attention, prompting a thorough investigation by the authorities.

As per the available details, the female security officer manually examined a passenger’s belongings while undergoing X-ray screening. Surveillance recordings from September 8 vividly captured the officer concealing an object in her waistband, sparking suspicion.

It gets more intriguing. The surveillance footage indicated that a colleague handed the suspect a bottle of water, which she used in her peculiar attempt to swallow the folded cash. With some difficulty, the officer tried to down the dollar bills, evidently struggling even with the aid of the water.

Unfazed by a nearby passenger’s attempt at small talk, the officer continued her brave act. It wasn’t long before she drew the attention of her superiors, who found her almost choking in the act.

OTS Takes Action

Reacting promptly to the shocking revelation, the OTS began an in-depth fact-checking probe into the theft accusations. In a public address, OTS Administrator Undersecretary Ma. O Aplasca stressed that such behaviour gravely breaches their “code of conduct for civil servants,” urging the public to come forward with any misconduct by the OTS staff.

As a direct consequence of this incident, heightened security protocols, including more rigorous searches of security personnel, were swiftly implemented.

Aplasca confirmed that those implicated in the episode were fired, prosecuted, and their identities revealed to the public.

Public Reaction and Social Media Frenzy

The footage of this peculiar theft has shocked many and taken social media by storm, especially on platforms like Reddit. Netizens have wittily remarked on the incident, poking fun at the “dirty money” analogy while criticizing the security officer’s execution and judgment.
