Pakistan’s security forces acted decisively to dismantle a Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist cell responsible for the recent Islamabad Judicial Complex suicide attack. The blast claimed 12 lives and injured several others.
In a coordinated effort, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested four members of the TTP/Fitna al-Khawarij network linked to the suicide bombing in Islamabad’s G-11 sector. Officials confirmed the operation in a statement released on Friday.
During questioning, Sajidullah alias Sheena admitted he handled the suicide bomber under direct orders from Commander Saeed-ur-Rehman (alias Daadullah), TTP’s Intelligence Chief for Nawagai, Bajaur. Working from Afghanistan, Daadullah provided instructions via Telegram, sent photographs of the bomber, and coordinated the attack to target law enforcement.

The suicide bomber, Usman alias Qari, belonged to the Shinwari tribe and lived in Achin, Nangarhar, Afghanistan. Upon entering Pakistan, Sheena arranged for Qari’s accommodation near Islamabad. Sheena later retrieved a suicide vest from Akhun Baba’s graveyard in Peshawar and delivered it for the attack. He readied the vest for Qari on the day of the bombing.
Authorities state the TTP network received step-by-step guidance from high command based in Afghanistan. Investigations continue, with more arrests anticipated.
In response, the federal government banned entry to Islamabad for vehicles without electronic tags (E-tags). Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry, announced this and other security measures in a press conference outside Parliament, accompanied by IG Islamabad Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi and Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon. Officials also unveiled plans for the “Secure Neighbourhood Survey,” an initiative designed to enhance public safety and reinforce Islamabad’s security framework.
