The State Bank of Pakistan has launched its first SBP Research Agenda for 2026-2029, setting three core themes to guide policy research and regulatory work.
SBP said in a press release that the agenda reflects its research priorities in a changing global and domestic economy. It cited rapid technology shifts, recurring supply shocks, climate change and structural challenges.
The roadmap aligns with SBP’s statutory objectives and SBP Vision 2028. The central bank said it aims to strengthen the analytical base for policy formulation and regulatory design.
The agenda focuses on inflation dynamics and monetary policy, financial sector deepening, soundness and efficiency, and structural transformation and economic development.
SBP said the three-year plan would help address research gaps and support informed macroeconomic policymaking. It also placed collaboration and knowledge sharing among its stated priorities.
The central bank said it plans to work with academics, policy researchers, government bodies and external stakeholders at individual and institutional levels while carrying out the agenda.
