SBP extends Banking hours on December 31

The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) branches would remain open longer to collect government receipts, duties, and taxes on December 31, 2022.

In a statement issued on Monday, “In order to facilitate the collection of government receipts/duties/taxes, it has been decided that the field offices of SBP Banking Services Corporation (SBP-BSC) and authorized NBP branches will observe extended banking hours till 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm on December 30 (Friday) and December 31 (Saturday), respectively,”

The central bank told NIFT to organize a “special clearance” at 8 pm on December 31 for payment instruments.

All banks have been told to keep their branches open on December 31 until the NIFT can clear government transactions.
