A report that first emerged on Israeli media quoting an unnamed European official, and then carried by the mainstream Russian media claims that Saudi Arabia has agreed to let Israel use its airspace to attack Iran in exchange for ‘progress’ in Palestine issue.
“The Saudis have declared their readiness for the Israeli Air Force to overfly Saudi air space en route to attack Iran if an attack is necessary,” the quote in the report said.
If true, Israel will be able to use shortcut route to bomb targets in Iran, saving fuel and time. The Israeli TV has further claimed that Saudi Arabia’s position has been confirmed by a European official from Brussels.
The European official from Brussels has not been named by the Israeli media.
It is still unclear what kind of ‘progress’ on the Palestine issue would Saudi Arabia like to see should the deal takes place.
Although Israel and Saudi Arabia have no diplomatic ties, the report claims Jerusalem and Riyadh exchange intelligence when it comes to Iran’s nuclear program.
It merits mentioning here that earlier this month, Iran said it will resume enrichment of uranium if US introduced any more sanctions on it.
