After much speculation, Netflix India has finally disclosed the entire cast for the period drama series. Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Ali, Aditi Rao Hydari, Manisha Koirala, and Sharmin Segal play key roles in the series, which screams grandeur and luxury—a genre Bhansali has mastered.
In the world where courtesans were queens, Sanjay Leela Bhansali “welcomes you,” the teaser said.

The director has collaborated with Rimpal and Harpreet, who created the costumes for Padmaavat, wearing heavy gold ensembles and kundun jewelry. In another post, the actors wore black and copper lehenga cholis with antique jewels.
Before the subcontinent was divided, the vibrant red-light district of Heeramandi was home to stories of courtesans and a hidden cultural reality explored in the film Heeramandi. The film promises to feature Bhansali’s renowned larger-than-life sets, complex characters, and soulful compositions. It is about love, betrayal, succession, and politics in the kothas.
“Heeramandi is a significant turning point in my development as a director. This is an epic, first-of-its-kind series that the Lahore courtesans inspire. I’m scared but excited to make it because it’s such an ambitious, grand, and all-encompassing series. I’m excited to work with Netflix to make Heeramandi available to viewers everywhere, said Bhansali.
