Samsung is reportedly planning a major overhaul of its AI strategy to strengthen Bixby across its expanding ecosystem. The company has been increasing its focus on artificial intelligence through Galaxy AI, smart home devices, and strategic partnerships. According to new leaks, Samsung may be preparing a major Bixby upgrade that could redefine how its virtual assistant operates on future Galaxy devices.
As competition intensifies with Google’s Gemini, the South Korean tech giant appears ready to bring more advanced reasoning and intelligence to its own AI assistant.
A well-known tech tipster, @chunvn8888, shared on X that Samsung is testing deeper integration with Perplexity AI. In this setup, Bixby will manage simple device and system tasks, while Perplexity will handle more complex, reasoning-based queries. Apple has already adopted a similar hybrid model, routing advanced requests through ChatGPT.
This change could finally give Bixby the intelligence boost it needs to compete with Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant. According to reports, the upgraded assistant is expected to debut with the Galaxy S26 series in early 2026.

Why Samsung Chose Perplexity AI
The leak also suggests Samsung selected Perplexity due to its investment in the startup and its rising popularity among Galaxy users. Earlier this year, Perplexity offered a free 12-month subscription to U.S. Galaxy owners, a move seen as preparation for deeper integration within Samsung’s ecosystem.
Bloomberg previously reported that Samsung and Perplexity were exploring an exclusive partnership to enhance Bixby’s web-enabled capabilities. Perplexity’s recent release of its Comet AI browser for Android hints at possible collaborations with Samsung Internet and other native Galaxy apps.
For years, Bixby has remained part of Samsung’s device lineup but struggled to compete with Google’s AI tools. Despite steady improvements, it has often been overshadowed by the built-in Google Assistant on Galaxy devices.

If the next Bixby version launches alongside One UI 8.5, Samsung may extend the update to existing Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The company has already confirmed Perplexity support on its smart TVs, suggesting a broader AI rollout across its ecosystem.
While Samsung has not officially confirmed the partnership, multiple leaks indicate that the Galaxy S26 generation could mark a major milestone in Bixby’s evolution transforming it into a far more capable, conversational, and intelligent assistant.
