On Monday, two ships carrying Russia Wheat docked at Port Qasim as the government battles to meet demand.
The remaining 400,000 tonnes of Russian wheat will reach Gwadar port by March 30.
The arrival of Russian wheat is expected to ease the country’s grain problem, caused by rising inflation and worsening economic conditions.
In Pakistan, flour costs Rs130 per kg, fine flour Rs150, and Chakki flour Rs160.
Subsidized 10-20kg flour bags are in short supply, and dual grain rates have created illegal marketplaces.
In Sindh and Balochistan, flour costs above Rs150 per kg, while a 20kg bag costs Rs3,000 in KP. Gilgit Baltistan, Azad, and Jammu Kashmir have higher flour prices.
Floods and a deteriorating financial condition have exacerbated Pakistan’s flour issue.
