BEIJING: A robot coffee shop operated by JD.com’s 7Fresh Coffee opened at Galaxy SOHO on August 16, serving 202 cups in one hour to set a Guinness World Record.
The 24-hour unmanned store uses robotic systems to handle grinding, extraction, mixing, cup dispensing and delivery without human staff. The machine can complete each drink in under 30 seconds.
During the record-setting hour, the system averaged one completed cup every 17.8 seconds. Customers place orders through a self-service interface and can watch the production process on a display.
