Security forces have initiated a strenuous search and rescue operation after abducting six football players in the Sui Tehsil of Dera Bugti district. On Sunday, they were en route to Sibi for the qualifying round of the All Pakistan Chief Minister Gold Cup Football tournament when they were forcibly taken by unidentified armed men in the Kachhi Canal area.

Eyewitnesses recounted that approximately 24 team members travelled together when assailants intercepted their vehicle in the Jani Pedi area and abducted them at gunpoint. Subsequently, 18 individuals were released, leaving six players in the kidnappers’ custody, primarily from Dera Bugti and Sui areas.

Government Officials Spearhead the Search Efforts

Responding swiftly to the incident, Interim Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti and Balochistan’s Home Minister retired captain Zubair Ahmed Jamali have expressed deep concern. They have mandated the concerned authorities to expedite the search operations to secure the immediate release of the abducted players. Officials have mentioned that an extensive search operation is being conducted, particularly along the border regions of Sindh and Punjab.

Moreover, seven individuals suspected of being involved in the incident were detained for further interrogation. The ministers have assured the public that the kidnapped players will be rescued soon, with all security agencies mobilizing their resources for their safe return.
