In response to claims of irregularities in previous local government (LG) elections, arrangements were made on Sunday for a re-vote in 15 districts of Sindh.
Re-voting is currently happening for President, Vice President, District Council Members, and General Members’ seats to resolve claims of irregularities in earlier elections, based on instructions given by the Electoral Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the Supreme Court in response to charges of wrongdoing.
The 15 districts have 109,687 registered voters, including 59,310 men and 50,387 women.
To perform local government surveys, 15 community police officers, 26 community police officers, and 52 assistant return officers were dispatched.
In 15 districts, 81 polling stations were built, comprising 21 for male voters, 22 for female voters, and 38 for mixed male and female voters. In 15 districts of Sindh, 275 polling booths have been established for the 2018 local government elections. There are 140 boxes for male voters, 135 for female voters, and 275 for both sexes.
This action is intended to protect democratic values and soothe worries regarding the previous election.
Jacobabad, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Larkana, Qamber Shahdadkot, Sukkur, Khairpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Umarkot, Tharparkar, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, and Badin districts will have elections on Sunday.
