Karachi: Rangers conducted an operation in Lyari and killed three suspected terrorists on Thursday.
According to the Rangers spokesperson, the paramilitary force raided a house in Chakiwara based on information provided by intelligence sources. A gun battle ensued when Rangers raided the house and in the resulting exchange, three alleged militants were killed.
Hand grenades and firearms were recovered from the slain terrorists. The suspects were making explosive devices, according to the Rangers spokesperson.
Sources revealed that the allegedly slain terrorists have been identified as Khan Darvesh, Arshad Khan and Habeebullah. All three belonged to the banned outfit Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan.
The law and order situation in Karachi deteriorated last week when prominent qawwal Amjad Sabri was gunned down in Liaquatabad and barrister Owais Ali Shah, son of the Sindh High Court’s Chief Justice, was kidnapped from a supermarket in Clifton.
A series of meetings between the country’s top civil and military leadership reaffirmed their resolve to fight militancy and terrorism by breaking the back of terrorists and their financiers.
