Islamabad: Without naming any institution, Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) said on Monday that some institutions wanted to achieve their goals by violating constitutional boundaries of the country.

Speaking at a ceremony here, he said these actions may prove ‘extremely dangerous’ for Pakistan’s federation.

The PPP stalwart did not name anyone or any institution, but referred to repeated suspension of the Constitution in the country’s chequered democratic history.

“The Constitution was repeatedly suspended in the past,” said Rabbani.

He went on to say that any compromise on the provincial autonomy would prove fatal for the country.

“Democracy in Pakistan is in its evolutionary stages … there’s a need to be patient otherwise the whole system might get derailed in haste,” he added.
