Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid has said Pakistan Awmi Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri should not drag the army into politics as their prime responsibility is defense and security of the country.

He said that Tahirul Qadri has hijacked the plane in Lahore while PAT workers are breaking law on the roads of Islamabad.

The minister said the decision to divert plane of Chief of Pakistan Awami Tehreek Tahirul Qadri from Islamabad to Lahore was taken for his own security as well as the security of other passengers.

He said any untoward incident could occur at the Islamabad airport in the presence of large crowds there.

Pervez said Islamabad administration has blocked some routes due to security reason.

The information minister said that a helicopter has been provided to Tahirul Qadri to reach his Model Town residence. He said that the PAT chief is an independent citizen of Pakistan but he should respect the law.

Qadri said he will only go home if Army provides security. “We need guarantee from Pak Army,” he added. Qadri claimed that ‘terrorists in police uniform and plain clothes are waiting for him outside.’ “I only trust the army; their high officials should come and escort me personaly to me home.”
