Punjab’s flour shortage worsened; therefore, province authorities banned inter-district wheat stock and product movement.
Punjab’s food department ordered 36 deputy commissioners to tighten down on wheat hoarders and unlawful movement.
The food department ordered pickets on city entrance and exit routes to stop the transit of flour mill stocks to other districts.
The flour mills organisation was outraged by the ban. Iftikhar Mattu, president of the District Flour Mills Association, said the government is worsening the flour problem.
He urged the provincial government repeal the prohibition in 36 Punjab districts.
