The caretaker government of Punjab has announced the restoration of the free travel facility for students on Metro Buses and Orange Line Trains.
The decision comes as a response to the harsh weather conditions, aiming to ease student commutes across the region.
Under the direction of Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, students up to class XII will be eligible for this benefit. This initiative permits free travel on all Lahore Metro Buses and the Orange Line Train, extending until the beginning of the summer vacation. This move follows last year’s implementation of free public transport for students, a response to the escalating oil prices.
Conditions and Availability of Free Travel Service
While the government had temporarily suspended this service just before the winter break, there is now positive news for students and parents alike. The free travel option is once again available on all metro bus Lahore routes and will continue until the summer break commences. To access this free bus service, students must wear their school uniforms and carry their school or college ID cards.
