On July 29, 2025, Australia secured a 5-0 victory in the T20 series against the West Indies, achieving a three-wicket win in the final match at Warner Park, St. Kitts.

The clean sweep marked a dominant tour for Australia, who also won the preceding Test series 3-0. The T20 finale showcased Australia’s depth as they successfully chased down the target of 171 runs with three overs remaining.

The West Indies batted first and scored 170 runs in 19.4 overs, with Shimron Hetmyer leading the team by making 52 runs off 31 balls. Ben Dwarshuis from Australia was impressive with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 41 runs, while early wickets left the hosts struggling at 25 for 3.

In response, Australia’s chase was fueled by Cameron Green, who scored 32 runs off 18 balls, Tim David with 30 runs off just 12 balls, including four sixes and Mitch Owen, who contributed 37 runs off 17 balls, hitting three fours and three sixes. Aaron Hardie finished off the match with 28 runs off 25 balls, securing the victory for Australia.

Captain Mitchell Marsh praised the team’s effort, noting, “We knew no Australian team had completed a clean sweep. It’s a credit to the team’s effort, with different players stepping up throughout.”

West Indies’ Struggles and Aftermath

The West Indies’ loss in the T20 series added to a difficult tour, which included a 3-0 defeat in the Test series. In the third Test, Australia bowled out the West Indies for just 27 runs, marking the second-lowest Test score in history. This prompted Dr. Kishore Shallow, the president of Cricket West Indies, to call for an emergency meeting to review the team’s performance.

Australia’s dominance illustrates its strength in global cricket, while the West Indies face significant questions about their strategy. The series outcome may impact future team selections and preparations. For accurate cricket updates, follow reliable sources.
