The Punjab drone flying ban has been enforced with immediate effect across the province. Authorities cited serious public safety and security concerns while announcing the restriction.
According to a formal notification issued by the Punjab Home Department on Wednesday, the ban applies to all outdoor drone operations. Officials warned that unregulated drone use could pose risks to public order and official duties.
The provincial government stated that drones may obstruct administrative operations and pose potential law-and-order challenges. Therefore, the decision was taken as a preventive measure.
The Punjab drone flying ban has been implemented under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898. The administration said it had sufficient grounds to invoke the provision to prevent threats to life, property, and critical installations.

Officials emphasised that the step aims to maintain peace and ensure public safety throughout the province. The notification also noted that the restriction seeks to prevent any untoward incident during the enforcement period.
At this stage, authorities have not specified the duration of the ban. Residents and drone operators are advised to comply with the notification to avoid legal consequences.
Further updates are expected if the administration issues additional clarifications regarding the scope or duration of the restriction.
