ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has handed major policy decisions to its parliamentary party, bypassing its political and core committees.
Under the reported arrangement, elected parliamentarians would decide the party’s principal policy positions. National Assembly Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas would lead the parliamentary group.
Sources linked the change to dissatisfaction with earlier committee decisions and setbacks the party suffered. They also maintained that lawmakers would no longer wait for alternative strategies from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leadership.
However, the scope of those provincial proposals, described as Plans B and C, was not explained.
Meanwhile, a separate party notification addressed the management of PTI’s provincial organisation. Chairman Gohar Ali Khan retained Junaid Akbar as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president.
Senator Noor-ul-Haq Qadri will preside over provincial cabinet meetings in Akbar’s absence. Provincial general secretary Ali Asghar Khan will oversee organisational matters and chair meetings when Qadri is unavailable.

That notification preserved the existing provincial structure. It did not establish the terms of the separately reported transfer of national policy decisions to parliamentarians.
Access to jailed PTI founder Imran Khan is expected to feature prominently when the parliamentary group meets. Sources identified his medical treatment and efforts to secure the release of detained female party leaders as other proposed discussion points.
Those matters are on the anticipated agenda; no decisions on specific measures have been announced yet. The parliamentary party is scheduled to meet on Tuesday to determine its next course of action.
