Islamabad : Criticising political approach and conduct of the Pakistan Tehreek Insaaf (PTI), Minister for Climate Change Mushahidullah Khan on Thursday said that there was big difference and distinction between politics and hooliganism.
Speaking in the National Assembly, he said that the democracy was restored in Pakistan after many sacrifices and pointed out that the Tehreek Insaaf had no role in this regard. He said that though PTI chief had attained the age of 62 but he was apparently still immature and did not believe on politics of decency.
He said that the PTI should now draw a lesson from it and avoid negative and confrontational politics since disrespect to other would not ensure respect for them. At this point, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq asked the minister not to speak against the PTI members as they were not present in the House but Mushahidullah continued with the same tone and tenor, severely criticising them.
He said that brave people always come from the front but the PTI during the sit-in did use abusive language against the elected representatives which was a sign of cowardness. He paid rich tributes to the speaker for his neutral role on the issue. Chief of Pakhtunkhwa Mili Awami Party Mahmood Khan Achakzai termed the day and resolution a historic one and said this was the best gift from the parliament during the month of August.
He said that the parliamentarians for the first time, did honour their oath when the parliament was attacked and stood united to protect the constitution and democracy. “This parliament is our honour and we will protect it at all costs,” he added. He said it was easier to give any name to a person but it was not a solution of the problems. Citing Newton third law, he said ‘to every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.’
He said that Pakistan was passing through a critical juncture as on one side the Islamic State issue was emerging while on the other hand there were great changes in the surroundings of Pakistan. He said that Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar and his son were reportedly killed but the parliament was not taken into confidence. He urged the parliamentarians to come forward and play their effective role for further strengthening democracy.
He congratulated the speaker and all parliamentarians on resolving the issue amicably. Ejazul Haq lauded both treasury and opposition benches for playing a positive role. He gave credit to the PTI sit-in which united the parliamentarians for protecting the constitution. He said that the onus was now on the PTI to come forward and play their role in strengthening of parliament and democracy.
