MANSEHRA: The PTI August 5 protest will head towards Adiala Jail instead of Islamabad’s D-Chowk, Aleema Khan said on Saturday, July 25.

“This time our destination is not D-Chowk but Adiala Jail,” the sister of former prime minister Imran Khan told supporters in Mansehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Aleema described the August 5 mobilisation as a “decisive battle” for her brother’s release. She urged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to join supporters from Punjab in the campaign.

Aleema also accused the federal government of issuing false statements in Imran Khan’s name and circulating them through the media. The government did not immediately respond to her latest allegation.

PTI’s parliamentary party had already announced countrywide rallies for August 5, marking three years since Imran Khan’s arrest in 2023. Party Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan confirmed the plan on July 15.

Imran Khan remains incarcerated at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi and faces several cases. He denies wrongdoing, while PTI describes the proceedings against him as politically motivated.

Aleema changed the party’s weekly jail-protest strategy on July 7 after authorities again denied the family a meeting with Imran Khan. She said workers would remain in their districts, while Khan’s three sisters would continue visiting the prison on Tuesdays.
