Prince Andrew has begun the final stages of vacating Royal Lodge as the deadline to leave the historic residence draws closer. This marks another significant step in his withdrawal from royal life.

The Duke of York is preparing to leave the 30-room Royal Lodge, located in Windsor Great Park. He will relocate to a far smaller property in Sandringham. Movers were recently seen outside the residence, loading items for removal. Meanwhile, as Andrew carries out what sources describe as a last sweep of the property, the move continues.

The relocation follows a directive from King Charles III, who ordered his brother to vacate Royal Lodge by January 25. The move is expected to place Andrew in a five-bedroom farmhouse in Norfolk known as Marsh Farm. This is a substantial downsizing from his long-time Windsor home.

According to reports, the transition has required Andrew to reduce his possessions considerably. He is said to have struggled with the scale of the move. This struggle is particularly due to concerns that the new accommodation would not be able to house many of his personal belongings. For instance, this includes his well-known teddy bear collection.

A report by The Sun claimed that a truck from Windsor was seen unloading items at a secure storage facility near Bermondsey. The unit reportedly features round-the-clock security and CCTV monitoring. Moreover, it has high perimeter walls. Additionally, the storage firm is said to hold a royal warrant. This indicates its status as a trusted supplier and its long-standing association with the Royal Household.

Sources suggest the location was chosen to ensure privacy and limit public scrutiny during the move. Insiders have previously claimed that Andrew has found the process emotionally difficult. In particular, some suggest he has relied heavily on familiar personal items. This reliance has helped him adjust to life away from royal duties and prestige.

Royal Lodge has been Andrew’s primary residence for years, and its departure signals the end of another chapter for the disgraced royal. As the eviction deadline approaches, the move underscores King Charles’s continued efforts to streamline royal residences. It also helps redefine the monarchy’s working structure.
