Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar congratulated the nation on Thursday for the triumphant execution of the 2024 general elections. Via his official X handle, Kakar lauded the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), interim provincial administrations, military and civil defense forces, police, election personnel, media, and all contributors for ensuring the elections were conducted freely and fairly. “This event underscores the resilience of our democracy and the Pakistani people’s unwavering spirit,” he remarked, highlighting the critical role of public participation in this democratic process.

Overcoming Challenges

Despite isolated terrorist incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, Kakar praised the steadfast dedication of national institutions in upholding electoral integrity throughout the country. “Their dedication was pivotal for the seamless progression of the elections,” he acknowledged. The Prime Minister admired the Pakistani citizens’ bravery and resolve, particularly in light of recent terrorist acts, emphasizing that their continued electoral engagement vehemently counters efforts to destabilize the country. “It vividly demonstrates our collective aspiration for peace, stability, and prosperity,” he added, envisioning the elections as a precursor to a more affluent future for Pakistan.

In parallel, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori expressed satisfaction with the ECP’s election arrangements, highlighting the smooth conduct in most of the province. Tessori acknowledged minor issues post-vote but praised the ECP’s overall organization and preparedness. Addressing the communication blackout, he affirmed it as a necessary measure for public safety, underscoring the caretaker government’s prioritization of citizen security and well-being.
