As China and Pakistan celebrate a decade of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Chinese President Xi Jinping reemphasizes China’s unwavering support to Pakistan, stating that no alterations in the international landscape would impact this firm alliance.
President Xi shared a heartfelt congratulatory message in a tribute to the event held in Islamabad, attended by Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, among other dignitaries. Xi’s sentiment underscores China’s continual solidarity with Pakistan, fortifying an unshakeable bond amidst the global dynamics.
Enhanced Cooperation and The Future of CPEC
In his message, President Xi extolled the shared journey of both nations, affirming their commitment to boost overall planning and broaden the cooperation horizon. He called CPEC a pivotal torchbearer for the Belt and Road collaboration. He expressed China’s resolve to augment CPEC into a symbolic project of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.
President Xi highlighted the commendable progress CPEC has made since its inception in 2013. CPEC, characterized by extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits, has catalyzed numerous early triumphs. These successes have infused vigour into Pakistan’s socio-economic landscape and pioneered the foundations for regional connectivity and integration.

The two nations inked six agreements and MOUs during the event as part of their ongoing commitment to bilateral cooperation. These documents focused on various aspects, from establishing an expert exchange mechanism within CPEC to exporting dried chillies from Pakistan to China. An Industrial Workers’ Exchange Program was also outlined, signifying a promising future for both nations in the new era.
