The Josh Sargent Toronto FC transfer is set to become one of the biggest deals in Major League Soccer, with reports indicating the MLS club will pay an acquisition fee of around $22 million.

Multiple outlets reported Friday that the U.S. international forward is heading to Toronto after a prolonged transfer saga with Norwich City. If finalised, the move would rank among the largest transfer fees in MLS history.

Josh Sargent, Toronto FC Transfer Details

The Josh Sargent Toronto FC transfer follows months of tension between the striker and Norwich. In January, Sargent reportedly made himself unavailable for an FA Cup match as he pushed for a move, with Toronto emerging as his preferred destination.

Norwich subsequently assigned him to train with the club’s under-21 team, where he remained while negotiations continued.

The reported $22 million fee places the deal alongside other high-profile MLS acquisitions. According to media reports, performance-related add-ons could further increase the total value.

Sargent’s Record at Norwich

Sargent joined Norwich in 2021 and scored 56 goals in 157 appearances across the Premier League and Championship.

This season, he registered eight goals in 25 matches in all competitions before being sidelined amid transfer uncertainty.

The 26-year-old is now moving to MLS at a critical stage of his career, aiming to regain consistent playing time and sharpen his form.

Beyond club football, Sargent reportedly hopes the move strengthens his case for the U.S. Men’s National Team ahead of the upcoming World Cup.

He has earned 29 caps for the United States but has not scored for the national team since 2019. Competition for attacking spots remains intense, making regular club performances crucial.

The Josh Sargent Toronto FC transfer could offer a fresh start as he seeks to reestablish himself both domestically and internationally.
