Galaxy S26 Ocean Mode underwater photography is one of the standout upgrades announced at Samsung’s Unpacked 2026 event. While Samsung introduced multiple updates across its flagship lineup, Ocean Mode remains one of the most practical enhancements for everyday users.
Originally designed for marine researchers and first introduced on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Ocean Mode is now expanding to the Galaxy S26 series. The goal is simple: improve colour accuracy and clarity when capturing images underwater.
Underwater photography often suffers from heavy blue tones. Colours such as red and yellow fade quickly as depth increases. Ocean Mode corrects this issue by adjusting shutter speed and using multi-frame image processing.
As a result, users can capture sharper, more vibrant photos that better reflect real underwater conditions. The feature also reduces motion blur, a common issue when shooting in moving water.
However, Samsung users should remain cautious. The Galaxy S26 carries an IP68 rating. This means the device can withstand submersion in up to 1.5 metres of fresh water for 30 minutes.

Saltwater presents a different risk. Its corrosive properties can damage connectors, seals, and charging ports. Therefore, users are advised to use protective, water-resistant housing when attempting underwater photography in the ocean.
Ocean Mode enhances creative possibilities, but responsible use remains essential.
