The by-elections for PK-95 (Lower Dir-II) constituency of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Assembly are under way as of now.

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) fielded its Lower Dir chief Izazul Mulk Afkari for the polls as soon as the seat was vacated by party chief Sirajul Haq. Awami National Party (ANP) also awarded a ticket to former MPA Haji Bahadar Khan in PK-95.

At least 85 polling stations were set up in the constituency and around 140,743 voters are registered.

In order to avoid any untoward incident, tight security arrangements were made since the polling began at 8am. The elections are expected to end at 5pm.

The Malakand Board has also postponed intermediate exams scheduled to be held today, while the local government declared the polling as a public holiday in the constituency.

The banned Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan  has also fielded a candidate for the by-election under another name Pakistan Raah-e-Haq Party.
