In a surprising turn of events, a policeman from Gujranwala, Punjab, and his brother were apprehended by locals for stealing a goat.
The incident, which took place in the Adroop Mor area, Gujranwala, ended with the brothers being severely beaten with sticks by the community before police intervened.
The accused policeman, identified as Waqas, was reportedly on duty at the Gujranwala jail. He and his brother, both residents of Lohianwala, were caught while attempting to flee on a motorcycle after taking the goat from a nearby residence. Police have since filed a case against the duo, and legal proceedings are underway.
The case highlights ongoing concerns regarding criminal activities within the ranks of the Punjab Police, tasked with upholding law and order in the region. In a separate but related incident, an unknown group of thieves stole ten goats from Choa Khalsa near Kallar Syedan.
The goats, valued at millions of rupees, were taken in broad daylight from fields near the farmers’ homes. The local police station has registered a case and is pursuing legal action against the culprits.
