Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif refuted claims by former PM, PTI Chairman Imran Khan, that Khan’s removal was due to a US-backed conspiracy, referencing Pakistan’s recent oil purchase from Russia as evidence against such claims. This comes after a foreign media report seemed to back Khan’s allegations regarding his removal post his Russia visit.
In an interview, Shehbaz mentioned that discussions in the National Security Committee affirmed that the US had no role in Khan’s removal. He also highlighted that the current relationship with China was restored to the 2017 level. Furthermore, an article by The Intercept discussed these allegations, but the publication could not confirm the document’s authenticity. Rana Sanaullah, a PML-N senior leader, commented that while the story isn’t new, its authenticity still needs verification.
