Karahi: The city’s ban on pillion-riding, which was imposed to enhance security measures during the observance of Defence Day on September 6, was lifted at midnight on Sunday.
The Sindh Home Ministry had initially enforced the ban starting from midnight on Friday, and it remained in effect throughout the weekend, specifically on Saturday, September 5, and Sunday, September 6.
The ban was part of a broader security strategy to ensure public safety during the significant national event. However, certain exemptions were made to accommodate the needs of various community members and essential service providers. Women, children under 12 years of age, senior citizens, journalists, personnel from law enforcement and security agencies in uniform, and employees of essential services were not subject to this temporary restriction.
The lifting of the ban marks the return to normalcy in the city’s transportation regulations following the successful and secure commemoration of Defence Day. The local government and law enforcement agencies continue to monitor and adjust such measures to balance public safety with the minimization of disruption to daily activities.
