Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan International Airlines has imposed a PIA smoking ban that bars cabin crew from carrying tobacco products and smoking while on duty, according to a new directive.
Under the policy, PIA flight attendants cannot carry cigarettes, cigars or other tobacco products in personal luggage. The airline also banned smoking on flights, in hotels and in public places during duty periods.
PIA management directed all crew members to comply with the instructions. The directive warned that violations would lead to immediate suspension and disciplinary proceedings.

The airline said the measure forms part of efforts to strengthen professional standards and maintain discipline among operational staff.
The policy may affect crew members who smoke regularly, as it tightens earlier conduct rules. The employees also raised questions because customs rules allow airline crew to carry a limited number of cigarettes for personal use during international travel.
PIA officials said the new instructions are mandatory. They said the airline would take strict action against any crew member found in violation of the policy.
