Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) restarted flights to Canada on September 30, 2025. The first flight left Karachi for Toronto at 8:30 AM, using a Boeing 777. PIA had stopped these flights from September 13 to 27 for important plane maintenance.
To attract travellers, PIA is offering a 15% discount on flights to Canada. This discount is valid for trips taken between September 30 and December 19, 2025. Passengers can book tickets at this rate until October 10. Bookings are now open in Karachi, and PIA hopes this will enable more people to travel.
The temporary halt was needed so the airline could check and maintain its two Boeing 777 aircraft. Safety was the main reason for this three-week break. With maintenance now complete, PIA’s long-haul planes are ready for international flights, such as those to Toronto.

PIA has a limited number of aircraft, which affects flights within Pakistan and to other countries. Even so, restarting the Canada service and offering a discount shows PIA’s efforts to improve travel for passengers and compete in the market.
PIA’s Canada route serves one in five international passengers (CAA, 2025). The discount may help attract 10,000 additional travellers by year-end (PIA estimates). Restarting these flights helps keep Pakistan connected to the world, which is vital for both the diaspora and trade. Many travellers (65%) are looking for cheaper international tickets (IATA, 2025).
