KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has set a cigarette limit for female flight attendants, allowing one packet containing 20 cigarettes during each flight duty.
An airline circular warns that staff who exceed the allowance face suspension or removal from flying duties. Management has instructed employees to comply with the directive.
PIA introduced a broader tobacco policy in June. That directive prohibited cabin crew from carrying cigarettes, cigars and other tobacco products in their personal luggage.

It also banned smoking during flights, hotel stays and in public places while crew members were on duty. Breaches carried the risk of immediate suspension and disciplinary proceedings.
The latest circular sets a possession allowance, but its relationship with June’s luggage ban remains unclear.
PIA management described the earlier measures as part of its efforts to improve professional standards and discipline among operational staff. Officials maintained that employees must follow the airline’s internal instructions.
