Phyllida Law dies at 94 after a long career across British film, television and theatre, her personal manager Jacky Leggo confirmed.
Leggo said the actress died peacefully at home with her family around her. Law was the mother of actors Emma Thompson and Sophie Thompson.
Her granddaughter, actress Gaia Wise, paid tribute on Instagram with the message, “Rest well, my Queen.”
Born in 1932, Law trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and built a career spanning stage, television and cinema. She received an OBE in 2014 for services to drama and charitable causes.
Her film credits included “Peter’s Friends,” “Much Ado About Nothing,” “Emma,” “The Winter Guest,” “Miss Potter” and “Albert Nobbs.”

Law also appeared in television series including “Kingdom,” “Waking the Dead,” “Foyle’s War” and “Doc Martin.” She is survived by her daughters Emma Thompson and Sophie Thompson.
