Peshawar Zalmi carved their name into Pakistan Super League (PSL) history on April 19, 2025, with a staggering 120-run victory over Multan Sultans in Rawalpindi, marking the tournament’s largest-ever win. Powered by explosive batting from Mohammad Haris, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, and Abdul Samad, Zalmi surpassed Lahore Qalandars’ 119-run record from PSL 8, showcasing their dominance in the 2025 season.

Electing to bat after winning the toss, Zalmi faced early setbacks, losing both openers for just five runs. Mohammad Haris ignited a fierce counterattack, blasting 45 off 21 balls with three sixes, while Tom Kohler-Cadmore’s 52 off 30, including five sixes, anchored the innings. Their 79-run stand shifted momentum decisively. Hussain Talat (37 off 29) and Mitchell Owen (34 off 15) sustained the aggression, and Abdul Samad’s 40 off 14 balls propelled Zalmi to a formidable 227/6 in 20 overs.

Multan Sultans crumbled in their chase, unable to withstand Zalmi’s relentless bowling. Usman Khan’s 44 off 22 provided brief resistance, but regular wickets led to their collapse at 107, sealing Zalmi’s record-breaking triumph.

Historic Milestone in PSL

The 120-run margin eclipsed the previous PSL record set by Lahore Qalandars against Islamabad United in 2023, establishing a new benchmark for dominance in the league’s 10-year history. The victory, witnessed by a packed Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, sparked celebrations on X, with posts like “Zalmi just rewrote PSL history!” reflecting fan excitement. However, broader sentiment remains inconclusive without further verification.

Zalmi’s batting depth, highlighted by Haris’s aggression and Cadmore’s stability, underscores their title-contending potential in PSL 2025. The bowling unit’s precision in dismantling Multan’s lineup further solidifies their all-around strength. For Multan Sultans, the defeat exposes vulnerabilities in their batting, necessitating strategic adjustments to remain competitive. The record-breaking win elevates Zalmi’s morale and sets a high standard for T20 cricket in the PSL.
