PESHAWAR, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Police booked Abdul Sadiq after CCTV footage showed him allegedly assaulting lawyer Madiha Parvaiz inside the Judicial Complex during a civil case, according to the FIR.
The incident took place on June 23 outside a courtroom, according to the police report.
The footage showed Sadiq confronting Parvaiz and forcefully throwing her to the ground. Parvaiz suffered injuries in the assault, according to the complaint.
The police registered the case following an inquiry by the District Public Prosecutor. The FIR said Sadiq had filed a civil case against Parvaiz.
Parvaiz told police she had filed a review petition in the case before the incident. She alleged that Sadiq verbally abused her inside the courtroom during the hearing. The presiding judge ordered Sadiq to leave the courtroom after the disruption.

Parvaiz said Sadiq attacked her shortly after she stepped outside the courtroom. She alleged that the assault was linked to her filing of the review petition.
Police said legal proceedings had started and an investigation was underway.
